He has helped me maintain my voice for many years, and has extended my vocal range, with his secure technique. Thanks to his encouragement and guidance, I am still able to deliver the goods.

From the moment I walked in to my first lesson with Maurice, I was made to feel completely at ease and welcomed. As soon as the lesson was over, I wanted to carry on for another hour (coming from someone who cried every singing lesson with other teachers). I have been having singing lessons with Maurice since 2009, when my then agent suggested I needed help with my voice and pointed me towards Maurice Clarke. I did need help and Maurice was and IS the perfect teacher. He identified within one lesson that it wasn’t my support that needed fixing, like so many teachers before him had said, but it was in fact the sound I was creating, or rather manipulating to sound like West End/Broadway singers. Maurice’s first lesson to me was, “sing with YOUR voice!” Over the years Maurice has not only fixed and cleaned-up my voice, given me repertoire that is beautifully suited to me, building-up my confidence, but has been the biggest cheerleader in my career. I wouldn’t have obtained so many wonderful auditions without his help, and I certainly wouldn’t have even dared sing anything from ‘The Last 5 Years’ let alone go on to star in it. He is not just a singing teacher but a life coach for singers, and I am honoured and proud to call him my teacher.

My experience having Maurice as a teacher has been the most positive experience in my journey as a singer. He is kind, encouraging and knows exactly what to say and when to say it to better you as a singer. I come into my singing lesson with Maurice with such ease. There is never any judgement or discomfort, only joy and passion are present in the room (or on the video call). When challenges arise in my singing, they are solved in a second because he quickly finds the technical or emotional solution to make it work. We work a lot on acting through song; we collaborate to find meaning in the lyrics, music, and story so I can perform the song with authenticity and passion. We unravel the puzzle of meaning in the songs and we find key elements that encourage a better performance, we really work together, it is so thrilling. I absolutely love singing lessons with Maurice! Every hour I spend with him is a time of growth, improvement, knowledge, laughter, and joy. His bright personality, his knowledge and passion blend together to create the wonderful singing teacher that is Maurice Clarke.

Maurice Clarke is an outstanding singing teacher, who excels not only in teaching you how to sing, but raising your confidence to another level. His attention to detail within the Acting Through Song is also remarkable, and I have learnt so much about myself, not only as a performer, but as a human being. I first went to Maurice when I was 13 years old, as a dancer who hadn’t sung much before, in addition to having zero confidence in my vocal ability. Fast forward to 10 years later, and I have been to one of the top Performing Arts Universities in the UK, and have 2 professional Musical Theatre shows under my belt all thanks to his superb 1-on-1 training. I continue to take Maurice’s classes as my passion for Singing and Acting grows everyday, and his classes provide the safest space to explore my passion.
